![]() Now, I can forward skip to track 64 (so 14 total skips), after which I can’t skip anymore. It displays on the screen that it is Disc 2 Track 50. ![]() The steering wheel controls do work but with a catch… When the stereo is first powered up it recognises the unit as an external CD stacker. I have a Made in China version of the McIntosh PF-28241. The sound quality is not quite as good on Aux (sounds like it’s clipping/saturating a fraction) but to say that is being pretty picky – it’s definitely still very listenable. It also paired up easily and the connection is very reliable. The sound quality on Bluetooth is fantastic. Again, easy fix – just don’t turn the volume on the phone up too high – use the stereo instead.ĭespite the points above, I’m still giving this 5 stars, because it does everything that I wanted from it – it’s easy to install, it’s easy to use, it allows me to use the existing controls on the stereo, the audio quality is more than acceptable – and basically it does everything that I expected of it. If I have the volume on my phone turned right up, the grom seems to overload the pre-amp in the mazda stereo and the sound gets a bit distorted. It’s a bit of a shame that track names aren’t displayed.ģ. It would have been nice if I could use the existing aux port (in the centre console) via the grom though.Ģ. It turns out that this aux port was plugged into the port that the grom goes into, so in order to connect the grom, I had to lose the aux connection (although I gained an aux through the grom so this isn’t a huge issue). I had an aux port in my Mazda3 (which was connected through the “Media” input on the stereo). I found a few caveats with the Mazda 3 version though:ġ. If you are thinking about adding Bluetooth to your car….contact Skot and find out how easy it could be.Įasy to install easy to use good audio quality. My car is a 20YO Prado and I would say this is probably the best improvement it has had. It couldn’t be simpler and the audio quality is very good – I use an Android phone and it does everything I want – streaming, directions, handsfree calling, etc. I connected the existing stacker wires (under the passenger seat) to the Grom unit, turned on the car’s ignition, switched on the stereo head unit and I’m pairing the Bluetooth in the Grom with my phone. (I already had an external CD stacker under the passenger seat). Then comes installation….Skot said it was a five minute job….installation was a breeze with no need to pull out stereo head unit, etc. The purchase process was smooth and the goods arrived very promptly and well packaged. The pre-sales advice from Skot answered all my questions. I am happy to say that my recent experience of purchasing a Grom unit from Cushie Audio has been extremely pleasing. The Grom BT3 is an excellent piece of electronics, and Skot works really hard to look after his customers, but this one gripe drives me bananas so alas, it’s not for me. ![]() If the music streaming is interrupted by turning off the car and turning it back on again, the music does not resume, and for me, this is a biggie. If you were playing music or using a radio app, etc, that would again continue playing the moment it connected to the phone, which I liked. ![]() I used to use one of those bluetooth to FM transmitter things that plug into the cigarette lighter port, and the beauty of this was that when I got in the car, it would resume doing what it was doing before you got out of the car. As promised, I can read the first few letters of short song titles on the CD player LCD, but longer names are truncated. If I answer using the Grom BT3, all is well. Now the stuff that I didn’t like – I think I need to un-match my phone from the car’s (2008 Lexus RX400h) bluetooth, as if I use the steering wheel to accept a call, the car’s thing kicks in and then when the call ends, the music needs to be restarted with Siri, or by unlocking, etc. Very fast delivery!
